As part of our KJH Cares giving program, we are directing funds previously allocated to client events, now cancelled due to social distancing, to the battle against COVID-19.
Many organizations have been unable to fundraise following the ban on public events yet want (and need) to help their communities more than ever.
In May 2020, we made donations to the COVID initiatives set up by the following organizations, to name a few:
Blue Jays Care / Sprott Foundation – These organizations are encouraging fans to donate funds to Food Banks Canada through the From Home Plate to Your Plate virtual food drive – Jays Care and The Sprott Foundation will match fan donations for the first $300,000 dollar-for-dollar, making our donation go even further to feed people in need across Canada.
Food Banks of Canada – Food Banks Canada has launched a special $150m appeal to help ensure that food banks can continue their critical work across every Canadian province and territory as the COVID-19 pandemic continues. Our donation will go a long way to help Canadians in need during these critical times.
Michael Garron Hospital – Michael Garron Hospital is on the frontlines of the COVID-19 epidemic and has set up the Michael Garron Hospital’s Emergency Response Fund in response. Funds will support caregivers on the frontline in the heart of Toronto’s east end to make sure they have everything they need to keep the community safe and healthy.
Princess Margaret Hospital – With COVID-19 putting unprecedented stress and pressure on Canada’s healthcare system, frontline workers and patients, cancer patients and survivors are especially vulnerable, especially those with compromised immune systems. The Princess Margaret Hospital is urgently working to protect cancer patients and their frontline health workers.
Ronald McDonald House Charities – RMHC across Canada is experiencing a time of great need as programs shift in response to COVID-19, all while families and hospital partners continue to look to them for support. COVID-19 has temporarily placed their Meals-on-the-Go and Home for Dinner programs on hold but with families spending most of their time in their rooms, RMH is committed to continuing to provide prepared food safely to the families’ rooms.
Sunnybrook Hospital – Donations will enable vital research already underway that could fast-track improved diagnostics, vaccines and antivirals that will impact the treatment of COVID-19. Sunnybrook has already teamed up to isolate the virus but the fight is far from over.
