Through our KJH Cares program, we regularly commit time, talent and treasure to charitable organizations in the communities where we live, work and play
KJH Cares was a proud sponsor of Holland Bloorview’s Capes for Kids campaign in March – a campaign that sees thousands of people join forces to fundraise and wear capes around the city. This event helps to make a meaningful difference in the lives of kids and youth with disabilities and has raised over $1.7M since 2017.
Members of the KJH Cares team went along to the hospital to make care packs for patients and hand out the special capes to the kids in the ward. To see the joy on the children’s faces as they received their capes was heartwarming for the whole team.
Donations to the campaign help provide vital research, programs, and services at Holland Bloorview that transform the lives of kids with disabilities and their families.
Some initiatives focus on enhancing care, developing assistive technologies, and evaluating barriers that restrict the inclusion of children with disabilities, while others go towards financial aid for families who require special equipment like wheelchairs and walkers, transportation to and from the hospital, accommodations at the hospital’s overnight suite, and medications. It is wonderful that donations also fund creative therapies and the use of therapeutic clowns who help ease the pain, administering warmth and laughter to kids and families.
